Short information about Gosaikunda Trek
Gosaikunda also spelled Gosaikunda and Gosain Kunda is an alpine freshwater oligotrophic lake in Nepal’s Langtang National Park, located at an elevation of 4,380m in the Rasuwa District with a surface of 13.8 ha. This lake remains frozen for six months from October to June. Later it meltdown and become the river form of Trishuli river. There are 108 lakes in the vicinity.
Religious significance
The Gosaikunda area has been delineated as a religious site for Hindus and Buddhists. According to the Hindu mythology, Gosaikunda is the abode of Hindu deities Shiva and Gauri. The origin of Gosaikunda is related to the Hindu scriptures Bhagavata Purana, Vishnu Purana and the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata refer to Samundra Manthan. Thousands of pilgrims from Nepal and India visit Gosaikunda at Gangadashara and Janai Purnima. The water of the lake is considered as the holy water. There is a belief that Lord Shiva created Gosaikunda Lake by his Trishul (holy Trident) when he had swallowed poison.

Shirai Chuli Trek is a new trek in Nepal. Most of the trekkers are quite unknown about it. This trek is also known as Chepang Hill Trek. During your trek, you will walk through the village of Chepang villages who are still living in semi-nomadic life. Some of them are still living in a cave. Chepang is the ethnics group of Nepal. This trek unique and cultural trek of Nepal. Chepang people have their lifestyles, languages, traditions, culture and farming styles. They are isolated and less educated tribes of Nepal.
This trekking is designed to help the Chepang people and help them to be locally sustained. If you wish to spend some more time in Chitwan. Chitwan Jungle Safari might be a good idea.
